Who are we and what do we do?
The Friends of Cuerden Valley Park are a voluntary group committed to providing support to the Trust. Our committee is elected from the members at the Trust Annual General Meeting and meets each month.
Being a member of the Friends group is a rewarding and much appreciated role. Volunteering with the park is a great way to gain experience, improve your physical and mental wellbeing and contribute to a great cause.
Fundraising
Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds for the park which has been used to buy vehicles, bridges, computers and equipment. More recent purchases include the Cuerden View 2U Horsebox as a mobile food and drink concession and the purchase of a new marquee and ten gazebos for the Trust to support events and the quarterly markets.
The Friends are an important forum for discussion about the future of the Park. We provide a voice for the local community and champion local views and engagement with the Trust to demonstrate how strongly we feel about this wonderful green space. Many of our members are interested in the park’s wildlife and report their sightings on our Facebook page.
Activity
The Friends group play a supporting role in all aspects of park life through the year. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Promoting the Trust and its work
- Acting as Greeters at weekends in our busy Café
- Conservation work
- Supporting school visits
- Supporting event delivery
- Fundraising
- Guided walks and talks
- Producing a regular Newsletter
Members of the Friends enjoy a close relationship with both Staff and Trustees. We are involved in discussions around development and implementation of projects events and engagement activity.
Joining the Friends
Every Friend becomes a member of the Cuerden Valley Park Trust with entitlement to attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting.
Membership of the Friend’s group costs £10 for an individual and £15 for a family for a one year membership. Your support by joining helps safeguard the Park for future generations.
