Celebrating a Pets life

With over ten miles of footpaths, grassland and woodlands, Cuerden Valley Park is a popular hotspot for dogs and their loving owners.  Many visitors walk the park every day with their four legged friend and over the years countless puppies have enjoyed their ‘first and last’ walks here.

In recognition of that fact and to celebrate the close bond you have with the park we have created a new ‘Wildflowers for Pets’ Meadow.

We aren’t limiting the area to dogs though, we’d love to help celebrate the life of your cats, rabbits, hamsters, Guinea Pig or other pet.

The meadow sits just below Cuerden View Café and overlooks the river Lostock as it meanders through the valley.  Having created a new accessible path with five new stone benches and resting points the meadow is the perfect place to sit and remember your cherished companion.

We only choose native wildflowers and pick the species which create a fantastic habitat for the many Dragonflies, butterflies and other insects which live here.

Each Wildflower dedication costs £80, includes a contribution towards the upkeep of Cuerden Valley Country Park and:

  • Your pets name entered into our memorial book in the Centre
  • A purchase of Wildflower seed/plants to cover an area of 5m2 – the seed will be spread either late Autumn or early spring during the planting season following preparation by our Rangers and Volunteer team

Note: You can join in with that activity if you would like.

  • The opportunity to spread your pets ashes in our bespoke memorial garden area below the Café

Please note:

  • The planting would take place in the first planting season following the donation and is for one year only
  • Following the initial planting an annual donation of £20 is possible to continue your support
  • Ashes must not be buried in a container – this technically becomes a burial and is not permissible

Places can be bought online below, a meeting in the park office will be required prior to purchase to organise a date subject to availability and time of year.
