Cuerden Valley Park / Friends of the Park

Who are we and what do we do?

The Friends of Cuerden Valley Park were established in 1995. We are committed to providing support to the Trust. Over the years we have raised many thousands of pounds which has been used to buy vehicles, bridges, computers and equipment for the Park. We also funded the glass panels on the Visitor Centre balcony. More recent purchases include long handled hedge trimmers, a mower and more recently a band saw.   Our on line Dog Show was a new fundraising initiative prompted by the limitations imposed by the Covid regulations which has proved very popular. This was specifically to raise funds to purchase a ride on tractor with mower attachment.

The Friends are an important forum for discussion about the future of the Park. We provide a voice for the local community to demonstrate how strongly we feel about this wonderful green space.  Many of our members are interested in the Park’s wildlife and report their sightings on our Facebook page.

The Friends committee is elected from the members annually at the Trust Annual General Meeting and meets regularly to discuss developments and make plans for the future. We are also involved in organising events and social gatherings.

Members of the Friends enjoy a close relationship with both the staff and Trustees. We are encouraged to be involved in discussions around development and implementation of projects.
