Trust starts the search for new staff

Due to retirements of long serving employees, the Trust has two vacancies for important roles at the Park.

Cuerden Valley Park is a 650-acre green oasis which lies between Chorley and Preston in Lancashire. It is a working estate with parkland and farmland, owned and operated by the Cuerden Valley Park Trust (CVPT) and enjoyed by over 300,000 visitors per year, mostly from the local area.

The CVPT is a small charity, set up in 1992 for the conservation and maintenance of the Park, enabling the general public to enjoy education and recreation opportunities. Free-to-enter, the Trust generates income from rents (agricultural, commercial) profits from the F&B offer in the recently built café, visitor car parking and other fundraising efforts.

PARKLAND MANAGER                 £28,000              FULL TIME, PERMANENT POST

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Parkland Manager who will lead the team in maintaining & conserving the parkland to balance the needs of visitors with the issues of erosion and damage caused by such large numbers of visitors in honey-pot areas.

This is an exciting time to be joining an established but growing team as one of two Heads of Departments, reporting to the CEO. Assisted by Government Covid Recovery Funding, the Trust was resilient in 2020 and is about to embark on two key, externally-funded landscape projects in 2021, focusing on the creation of new wildflower meadow areas and erosion recovery schemes for the popular, heavily-used routes through the Park.

You will be hands-on, working with your team on practical conservation and maintenance tasks, whilst delivering a strategic approach for the future management of the Park, including working on the two new landscape projects.

There is an enthusiastic team of volunteers onboard and we are looking to expand volunteer help at the Park to get involved in all aspects of our work.

You will be familiar working with and supporting both staff and volunteer teams, as well as engaging with a broad range of stakeholders. It is a great opportunity for someone with staff supervisory experience, looking to make a move into a Head of Department role. There is a great combination of both practical, project and people management skills and you will be joining a small, enthusiastic and supportive team.

OFFICE MANAGER                         £23,000              FULL TIME POST – JOB SHARE CONSIDERED

The Cuerden Valley Park Trust is based at the Trust Offices and Café building in the middle of the Park. It is a busy hub where the Heads of Department and the CEO are based with a busy education facility and lots of volunteers coming and going.

We are looking for a great all-rounder in this key administrative role who will provide support to the staff and volunteers, run the office smoothly, dealing happily with both cash-handling, administrative tasks, alongside dealing with a multitude of enquiries from the visitors, both in person and online.

You will be used to the sort of busy environment generated by a dedicated team working for a small, charity, enjoying high visitor numbers, and you will bring the sort of flexibility gained from experience from a variety of backgrounds, able to pitch in and help, where required.

It is a great time to be joining this established and growing team, as the trust embarks on exciting projects, following a resilient year in 2020 with externally funded projects to look forward to in the next couple of years.

If you think you have the necessary skills and experience to take on these varied roles at an exciting time for this charitable trust, then we would love to hear from you.
